It started with an idea...
Aw Shucks started as a simple idea for a children’s book—a few jumbled lines sitting in my phone’s Notes app, with no real idea how to turn them into an actual book. It was one of those “maybe one day” ideas.
One day came during maternity leave. In those early days when the baby still slept a lot, I decided to see if I could actually figure it out. I wrote, edited, illustrated, formatted, proofed, learned Amazon KDP, made plenty of mistakes, fixed them—and a few short weeks later, I was holding a real copy of Aw Shucks in my hands.
Turns out, the whole thing was a lot more doable than I thought.
That experience became the heart of Color & Grow: take the idea seriously, learn as you go, and make something worth keeping.
